How to Empower Yourself Without Feeling Guilty: Stop Waiting for Permission to Choose Yourself. Part 4.

The RESET Method — Step 4: Empower

Have you ever noticed how easily you can encourage someone else?

  • You tell your friend to take the vacation.

  • You remind your coworker that they deserve a break.

  • You tell your daughter to believe in herself.

  • You cheer everyone else on...

But when it's your turn? You second guess yourself. You wonder if you've done enough. You wait for someone else to tell you it's okay.

If you've been following along in our RESET Method journey, this week is one of my favorite conversations because it's the moment everything begins to change.

Up until now, we've recognized what's draining us. We've evaluated what needs to change. We've simplified by letting go of what no longer serves us.

Now comes the part where many women get stuck. Choosing themselves.

Not because they don't know what they need...But because they don't believe they're allowed to.

Empowerment Isn't About Becoming Someone New

One of the biggest myths about personal growth for women is that empowerment means becoming louder, tougher, or more confident overnight.

I don't believe that's true.

Real empowerment is much quieter. It’s graceful. It's trusting the voice inside you that has been trying to get your attention for a long time.

It's saying:

"I know what's best for me."

Even if no one else understands.

Even if it disappoints someone.

Even if it's uncomfortable.

Especially then.

Can I tell you something with love?

No one is coming to hand you permission. Not your boss. Not your spouse. Not your children. Not your parents.

We can only encourage you. We can cheer you on. We can remind you that you're worthy.

But we can't choose your life for you.

Somewhere along the way, many of us learned that being "good" meant being agreeable. Being available. Being dependable. Being everything for everyone.

And little by little...We stopped asking ourselves what we needed.

If you're searching for how to stop people pleasing, how to stop feeling guilty for saying no, or how to prioritize yourself without guilt, I want you to know you're not alone.

You're not selfish.

You're waking up.

The Hard Truth

Here's the hard truth I wish someone had told me years ago.

Every time you ignore your needs...you're teaching yourself they don't matter.

Every time you silence your intuition...you're teaching yourself not to trust it.

Every time you stay quiet to keep everyone else comfortable...you become a little less comfortable in your own life.

That isn't empowerment. That's survival. And survival was never meant to become your lifestyle.

Empowerment Begins with One Small Decision

The beautiful thing about empowerment is that it doesn't require a dramatic life change.

It starts with one small choice. One honest conversation. One healthy boundary. One "no." One afternoon of rest. One doctor's appointment you've been putting off. One walk outside. One application you finally submit. One dream you stop talking yourself out of.

Big transformations are built on small moments of courage.

What Does an Empowered Woman Look Like?

She doesn't have it all together. She still gets scared and she continues to question herself at times, and she still has difficult days.

The difference is this:

She no longer lets fear make her decisions. She lets her values make them instead.

She understands that choosing herself isn't taking something away from the people she loves. Instead, what she does know is that it's about being the healthiest version of herself for them.

Hit Reset!

This week, I want you to choose one decision you've been postponing because you're waiting for permission.

Then ask yourself: "If I fully trusted myself, what would I do next?"

Don't worry about solving everything, just take it one step at at a time. Empowerment grows through action—not perfection.

Journal Prompt

Spend a few quiet minutes reflecting on these questions:

  • Where in my life am I waiting for someone else's permission?

  • What decision have I already known the answer to?

  • What fear keeps me from choosing myself?

  • What would change if I trusted my own voice today?

Write without editing yourself. You might be surprised by what you've known all along.
